    About

    Arelis Mártir-Negrón, M.D., FAMG, is a medical geneticist at Miami Cancer Institute, a world-class cancer center, part of Baptist Health South Florida. She is trained in internal medicine, genetic diagnosis and the treatment of patients with hereditary disorders. Collaborating with genetic counselors and other medical specialists, she develops interventions to minimize the risk and impact of genetic disorders and improve the efficacy of therapies to treat such diseases as cancer. Dr. Mártir-Negrón is Board certified in medical genetics and internal medicine. Her clinical interests include genetic cancer risk assessment, breast cancer, colon cancer and ovarian cancer. She has presented scientific posters and abstracts in her medical specialty at various conference forums. Her teaching experience includes mentoring and instructing residents and fellows in the areas of cancer genetics and internal medicine genetics. She is a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics. Dr. Mártir-Negrón received her medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Guadalajara, Mexico. She completed a residency in medical genetics and genomics at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Ala., and a residency in internal medicine at the Ponce School of Medicine, Ramon E. Betances Hospital-Mayaguez Medical Center in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. She also completed a fellowship in cancer genetics at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center in Duarte, Calif. Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Mártir-Negrón was an attending medical geneticist at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
